Helping at hunting youth expo

Fifteen Central Lakes College Natural Resources students will help at the 2010 Governor's Deer Hunting Opener Youth Expo at Camp Ripley Friday, Nov. 5. The students will participate as volunteer supervisors during a morning of activities for 200 students and chaperones from Mary of Lourdes, Royalton, and Little Falls Middle School that include archery, hides of Minnesota, make 'n tracks, outdoor safety and meet the CO (conservation officer), and an obstacle course. Most activities will be held outdoors if the weather is reasonable, according to Michael Kurre, mentoring program coordinator with the Minnesota DNR. He thanked CLC for providing "outdoors oriented college students to share some of their expertise, talents and provide them with a chance to meet some of 'trophy' players in government, MDHA (Minnesota Deer Hunters Association) and the MN DNR."
