'Harvey'

Central Lakes College Theatre will open its 41st season Oct. 6 with the prize-winning comedy “Harvey” in Dryden Theatre on the Brainerd campus of CLC. “Harvey” is the tale of Elwood P. Dowd, a good-natured, mild-mannered eccentric who is polite, cheerful and always friendly. He has just one problematic character trait -- his best friend is an invisible six-foot tall rabbit, named Harvey. Nicholas Brutscher of Brainerd plays Elwood P. Dowd. Barb McColgan plays Dowd’s sister, Veta Louise Simmons, and Leah Hochmyer plays her daughter, Myrtle Mae. They are trying to commit Elwood to Chumley’s Rest in order to get Harvey out of their lives. The staff of Chumley’s Rest are Kevin Yeager as Dr. Chumley, Shane Keran as Dr. Sanderson, Lizzy Busher as Nurse Kelly and Marc Oliphant as Wilson, a sanitarium orderly. The rest of the cast is played by Denise Sirucek, Sarah Cooper, Ed Eyestone, and Andrew LaSart. Harvey appears as himself. Performances are Oct. 6, 7, 8, 9, 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $5.50 for General Admission and free to CLC students. For tickets, call the box office at 218-855-8202.
